A table set with handmade stoneware in rust glaze, Philippine pottery by AWIS

AWIS is a curator of Philippine pottery, based in Metro Manila. We keep a small house line of stoneware mugs and cups, a table of plates and bowls, and a gallery of work by Filipino ceramic artists. The catalogue is updated every Monday.

AWIS is a curator of Philippine pottery: a shop and gallery for handmade stoneware mugs, cups, bowls and plates, and for work by Filipino ceramic artists. It is based in Metro Manila, online at awis.ph and on Instagram as @awis.ph.

No. AWIS does not run classes or workshops. We present finished pieces: a house line made for us in the Philippines, and work by guest artists.

In Metro Manila. We sell online and by message, ship anywhere in the Philippines, and pieces can be collected in Metro Manila.

Message @awis.ph on Instagram or write to [email protected] with the piece, the size and the glaze. We reply with availability and how to pay. You can also build a reservation on this site and send it to us.

By GCash or BPI bank transfer, whichever is easier for you. The account details and QR codes for both come with your order. A screenshot of the confirmation is all we need.

This week: Juan ₱650, Briseo from ₱700, Duke ₱800, Anton ₱850, Amado ₱850, Floresca ₱900. Plates, bowls and pieces by guest artists are priced on enquiry. All prices are in Philippine pesos, per piece.

Two ways. Collect for free: in person, or with your own Grab, Lalamove or courier. Or we ship it for you: ₱300 anywhere in Luzon, Metro Manila included, and ₱400 to Visayas and Mindanao, per box of up to four mugs and cups. Each extra box adds ₱200 to Luzon or ₱300 to Visayas and Mindanao. Plates, bowls, pitchers and artist pieces are quoted with your order. Every parcel is packed by hand.

If a piece we ship arrives broken, cracked or chipped, send us a video of the parcel being opened within 48 hours of receiving it. If you did not take one, clear photos of the piece and the box are enough. We will replace it, or refund it. Every piece is checked before it leaves us. For pickup, look over your pieces with us at handover; once they leave with your own Grab, Lalamove or courier, please raise any damage on the way with them.

Pieces are prepared within three to five business days after payment, then shipped or set aside for collection.

The house line is made for AWIS in a single studio in the Philippines and carries only the AWIS mark. Guest artists are named with their work: Joey de Castro, Mia Casal, Siegrid Bangyay, Niño Hernandez and Vicente Gudiño.

Five house glazes: Rust, Sand, Charcoal, Bamboo and Azure. What is available changes from week to week. The catalogue, updated every Monday, lists the glazes on hand for each piece.

Yes. They are high fired stoneware. Keep microwave use to short spells, and avoid sudden changes in temperature, such as boiling water into a cold cup.

Each piece is thrown and glazed by hand, so the glaze breaks differently over every rim and the form varies slightly. No two are the same.

Yes. Write to [email protected] with the number of pieces and your budget, and we reply with what is on hand.
